This cleaning guide is based on our experience with various stains and environmental conditions and offers clear recommendations for how to safely clean and maintain your pavers.

General Concrete Paver Cleaning Tips

  • Act fast. The sooner you clean spills or contaminants, the less chance they have to absorb into the pores of the concrete.

  • Never Use a Power Washer

  • Start simple. Always begin by cleaning with clean water and a soft cloth, sponge, or soft-bristle brush.

  • Blot—don’t scrub. Dab spills using a damp cloth to avoid spreading the stain. Rinse frequently.

  • Avoid acid-based cleaners. Acidic products can permanently alter the color of your pavers.

  • Test first. Always test cleaners in a discreet area before applying them to larger sections.

  • Use as little product as needed. Start with a light dilution—you can always add more if necessary.

Recommended Cleaning Solution

✅ Basic Dirt, Algae, Mold, or Mildew

Use: 30 Seconds Outdoor Cleaner (Exterior Use)

  • Spray onto damp pavers

  • Let sit for 30–60 seconds

  • Rinse with a garden hose

  • Agitate with a soft brush if needed

👉 Environmentally safe and easy to use

Additional Paver Cleaning Products

Try 30 Seconds Outdoor Cleaner first. But if that doesn’t work try these other products as well.

Use: Prosoco Enviro Klean 2010 All Surface Cleaner (Interior/Exterior Use)

  • Spray onto damp pavers

✅ Grease, Fuel, or Heavy Oil Stains

Use: Dumond Safe ‘n Easy Oil, Grease, & Stain Remover (Exterior Use)

  • Apply to surface

✅ Rust Stains on Concrete Pavers

Use: Dumond Safe ‘n Easy Masonry Rust Remover (Exterior Use)

✅ Efflorescence

(White Powdery Residue)

Start with: Clean water and a soft-bristle brush

  • Lightly dampen pavers

  • Gently scrub and rinse

  • Repeat if necessary

If water alone doesn’t resolve it:
Use: Dumond Safe ‘n Easy Efflorescence Remover

👉 Efflorescence is common and temporary—it will fade over time naturally, especially in humid or rainy climates

Important Reminders

  • Always test cleaners in a small, hidden area before treating the full surface.

  • Avoid using pressure washers, which can damage the surface texture of handcrafted pavers.

  • Follow all manufacturer instructions and dilution ratios precisely.
